Caribbean Hotels

The Caribbean side of Costa Rica offers a more jungle feel and eco-friendly feel to your lodging options. The hotels range from ecolodges to smaller luxurious boutique hotels. Most of the hotels on the Caribbean are a short walking distance to the beaches and because the Caribbean is a bit more flat you do not get the views as you get on the Pacific but the option to be just steps away from the beach with no stairs can be very inviting to a lot of travelers.

The Caribbean offers a number of different beaches starting in the far north at the Tortugueroarea where you make your way around by small boats through canals. Heading farther south you will arrive to the white sandy beaches of Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Cocles, Punta Uva, andManzanillo, all of which play a key roll in holding on to the culture of the Afro-Caribbean laid back vibe. One of the beauties of the Caribbean is the rich culture you will find. This can also be reflected in your lodging options as life is just a bit more laid back and none of hotels are run like mega-resorts.
