Shawandha - Playa Chiquita

Located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica the Shawandha is a hotel that is surrounded by nature. The hotel owner has her touch on everything including the name. The name Shawandha comes from a child the owner met in the town of Puerto Viejo years back when she was buidling the hotel. She liked the name so much she decided to name the hotel after the child.

Villas del Caribe - Playa Cocles

Villas del Caribe has one of the best locations on the Caribbean side. Here you are located just in front of Playa Cocles where you can enjoy the sound of the waves and relax in the hammocks of the large balconies that can be found in each room. It is a larger hotel considering most hotels are very small on the Caribbean. With that said the hotel is still only 20 rooms.

Namuwoki -  Playa Chiquita 

The names says it all. The local Bribri Indigenous people of the area use the name "Namuwoki" to describe where the Jaguar lives. If you are looking to spend your time at the Caribbean where the Jaguar lives you found the right place. Along with having a great name the Namuwoki is a fascinating place to be. The hotel is located about 75 mts from the beach but is situated on a property that allows you to enjoy nature to the fullest. It is an extremely well kept small hotel that is best described as an ecolodge.

Hotel Cariblue - Playa Cocles

The Hotel Cariblue is located just across from the street on the Beach of Cocles. Here you will find one of the more larger hotels in the area. When we say large on the Caribbean we still mean pretty small compared to other parts of Costa Rica. The Hotel Cariblue is known for it's seafood restaurant and is a great place for families. It has a large pool and is just steps away from the ocean. The Hotel Cariblue is set up into different bungalows where there are a few different to pick from. Each bungalow has it's own separate design.

Escapes Caribenos - Salsa Brava Beach

Located just minutes from the town of Puerto Viejo Escapes Caribenos is one of the cleanest hotels you will find in the area. The hotel is nothing fancy and the price is right. If you are looking to be close to Puerto Viejo but far enough outside to get away when needed then the Escapes Caribenos is the place for you. Located on the Salsa Brava Beach which is known for surfing you can find Escapes Caribenos with 18 different rooms of which 4 of them are beachfront. The hotel does not have a pool but it does have a very large book collection. If you are in the mood for swimming in a pool you might be better off picking up a book or look for a different hotel. The rooms are very clean and the grounds are kept perfectly. There is a small restaurant that only does breakfast.

Le Cameleon - Playa Cocles

When visiting the Caribbean side of Costa Rica you might not have in mind Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel. Unless of course you are in the plush crowd then this is the perfect spot for you. We would not suggest bringing kids to this hotel and I almost felt like I did not belong just because I had some dirt on my hiking boots walking into the lobby. The hotel is completely white. When I say completely I mean everything. There are a few pink pillows here and there but other then that all walls, furniture, towels, floors, and everything is white. It is somewhat of a nice blend to see so much natural green around so much white but it is something you want to be ready for before arriving.
