Scuba Diving

Let's just say Costa Rica is more common for it's biodiversity in it's rainforest than its ocean. That is of course until you become one of the lucky few who take the expedition week or 10 day trip to the Cocos Island which many naturalist call one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. This island is located off the Pacific Coast and departure from Puntarenas or Guanacaste will lead you on a 7 or 10 day expedition of some of the best diving on the planet where you will be exposed to endless amounts of marine species that might not even have a name yet!

Other areas for scuba diving in Costa Rica are the Isla de Caņo located in the Southern Pacific region along with the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. Costa Rica does require that you are a licensed scuba-diver for taking part in this sport. This is not a type of tour where you can get certified in a morning like in some other resort areas of the world that will offer you a crash course of scuba-diving and having you in a shallow reef by afternoon.
